Frequently Asked Questions
What does a typical training day look like?
The morning session will predominately focus on the theory required to test and tag, while the afternoon focuses heavily on learning to actually test and tag with a portable appliance tester. All of our classes across QLD are kept to a maximum of 12 people so that everyone in the room can get individual time and support from our trainer. Upon completing the course, you should be completely comfortable at testing and tagging on your own.
Where in QLD are courses held?
We’re proud to offer three convenient training locations across Queensland.
For those on the Gold Coast, our Test & Tag course is held at the Housing Industry Association in Varsity Lakes, providing easy access for locals. If you're closer to Brisbane, we’ve got you covered with a course at the Construction Skills Training Centre in Coopers Plains, just a short 15-minute drive from the CBD. And for those on the Sunshine Coast, our training is hosted at the scenic Dicky Beach Surf Club
How is the Nationally Recognised course different to the Short course?
Both the Nationally Recognised and Short Courses are delivered in a face-to-face training session over 1 day. However, the major difference between them is that the Nationally Recognised Course has an additional self-paced OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) online component and is thereby considered the highest qualification (ASQA approved). The course you decide on will largely depend on your particular needs, but the vast majority of students will complete the Nationally Recognised one for a variety of reasons.
How long does the course go for?
Our Test & Tag Course in QLD is 1 full day and generally starts at 8:00 am and finishes at approximately 4:30 pm, with breaks for morning tea and lunch. If you’re planning on doing the Nationally Recognised course, it’ll consist of an additional self-paced WHS online component, which is to be completed in your own time before the course date. This typically takes around 3-4 hours to complete, depending on your existing knowledge.
What if I need technical support after the course?
You’ll have the peace of mind knowing that we'll be there when you need us, whether it's by phone, email or in person. Every single student taught by Test & Tag Training receives free lifetime technical support from our team of experts. Guaranteed. This could be anything from how to use a specific appliance tester or how to test and tag a particular electrical appliance. We want to ensure we're making people's jobs easier by offering dependable service and expert advice when you need it most.
Who will be the instructor on the day?
We have two trainers in QLD, both of which are test and tag industry professionals with many years of experience and are fully qualified. In addition, they’re all very friendly and approachable and will make the training an enjoyable experience. Whatever your reason for doing the course is, we guarantee our trainers will give you all the knowledge and skills required to successfully test and tag.
Do I need to bring anything for the training day?
To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, it's mandatory to have access to a PAT Tester for the hands-on training section. If you don't already have one, you can buy or borrow a PAT Tester from us via Appliance Testing Supplies. This way, you’ll get hands-on experience using the actual appliance tester you use in the real world.
